Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park, Spain
Even before we start to climb the mountain we knew we are not fast as the Europeans.
They keep running up with their small backpacks and equipment.
Only God knows how they can trek with such small backpacks. One thing is to walk from one refojiu to another, buy food and sleep on a bed there. For this your really have to carry some water and food and mostly you credit card.
But even those that really trek with tents and sleeping bags walk along with really small backpacks. And only us, the Israelis, walk with huge ones packed and heavy.
Maybe the fact that we always have to be ready for everything – from sickness to terror attacks, makes us take far more equipment then everybody else. The Europeans has emergency cellphone and in worse case scenario, they call someone… 🙂
